Grief Ritual

What does it consist of?

Quecheláh: Medicine-Community

Grief needs to be experienced in community because only in such a way can it be completely transfomed.. Grief that is not experienced gets fermented inside us, and it ends up causing all kind of uneasiness. When we learn how to give time and space to grief, within a contained community, it is easier to give movement to it. Transformed grief becomes food for the soul.

It is based on the indigenous African grief ritual. We do not make use of any psychotropic substances. We simply create a medicine-community that allows transformation at the depth of each individual. This retreat can be 2, 3, or 4 days long, depending on the availability. It is facilitated at a safe location with staff asistance, in contact with nature, where we can maintain a medicine-community.

Testimonials

I went to process three griefs that marked me, I did not imagine that this experience would help me to process many more griefs of mine and others of my ancestors, something changed in me, I feel lighter, I feel at peace. Thank you with all my heart.

For me it was a truly regenerative experience.

Leaving my parents house hurt me. Leaving childhood friends, not being in the places of my adolescence, losing contact with high school friends hurt me. Having lost a house hurt me. Betrayal hurt me. Not meeting my own and others' expectations hurt me. Acknowledging that my mistakes affected other people hurt me. Losing opportunities hurt me. And that pain occupied me for a long time. So much that the heart weighed. So today I un-occupied myself... From now on, I will try to lovingly, gently and kindly occupy myself and others. Thank you
